I created this one for a challenge. Glee makes me cringe quite often, but I do enjoy some of the characters and story lines. One of my favorite characters is Rachel - she's got issues and she can be all out annoying, but she's tough without being mean (usually). She is one of the few to express remorse when she behaves badly, and she expresses her toughness by trying to rise above (again usually) instead of sinking down to the level of others. I wanted her singing because she puts such passion into it.



I created this one for a Big Bang story. I loved the idea of the logical and stoic Spock paired with the logical and passionate Hermione.



This was created by opheliapunk. Tin Man is a favorite mini-series, and this scene was fantastic. I loved the offhand, matter-of-fact way DG behaved here. Plus it is a great icon for when you want to give the "Yes, and?" mood to your post.



This was created by dhamphir. I love their work - it is always some gorgeous (& usually animated) stock. When the offer for personalized Halloween icons was made, I definitely wanted the Reaper because he has always struck me as both the most mysterious and haunting symbol - the ultimate question, answer, and destiny wrapped up in one.



I made this one. I love the Golden Age of Hollywood, and Norma Shearer was one of the queens of the time period. The actors & actresses of today should have half the grace and presence of back then. Even more fabulous - because the times were more discreet and controlled, Hollywood had mystery and mystique that today just cannot match. It was tantalizing and enchanting . These days when the stars splash their idiosyncrasies and drama all over the tabloids and television screens, it just comes off as tacky.



I made this one too. I love the new Avengers movie-verse, and my two favorite characters are Darcy from Thor and Clint from Avengers. Even though the two of them haven't met in canon, I feel they'd be a great pair. She's observant, funny, and supportive while being a bit snarky. He's sarcastic, smart, and tough while being observant is his forte. He's got shadows while she's mostly light - she'd draw him out while he'd protect her.

Here are the rules: Comment on this post with "I love libraries" and I’ll give you five things I want you to talk about. They may make sense or they may be totally random. Then post that list to your journal with your commentary. Other people can get lists from you and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

Here is what I got:

1) Fanfiction - When I discovered fanfiction, it felt like I was no longer alone. I've always wanted to know "what next?" "but then what?" "what else?" and all of these other questions about the characters from my favorite books, movies, & television shows. I would imagine, playact, etc. I even scribbled a few (very bad) stories. Nobody else I knew did any of this! Now I've got a huge playground filled with people who share the same interest. Through fanfiction, I have discovered fandoms I never knew. I have all of space and time to explore with the characters I have always loved, and I get to meet other people along the way. One of the best things about meeting these folks? Most of them always have time to lend a hand or make a recommendation. Whether you want help in finding a particular type of story, or are trying to learn the craft of writing/graphics, you can find people who will give wonderful advice.

2) Favorite things about the Wild West - Self-sufficiency and depending upon the local community. You could not really depend upon the government because they were too far away. By the time the army or marshals showed up, the bad guys were usually long gone. You had to be able to protect and take care of yourself to survive. To truly thrive, you had to build a relationship with the people around you. People came together to build houses, help with major livestock events, and many of the holidays. People knew their neighbors, who everybody was and what was happening. I think we are missing a lot of that in our modern era, and I'm just as guilty as anyone else.

3) Travel - I love the opportunity to see the beauty of the world around me. When I travel, I see the wonders of nature crafted by the hands of God. I see the marvel of architecture shaped by the hands of people. I get to taste the diverse variety of cooking and delight over the multitude of crafts and artworks in new regions. I also love the chance to come home. While travel impresses me, returning home to the people and place I love fills me with joy. The travel has reminded me of how much home means to me.

4) Movies - When I was a kid, my family did not have a lot of money. Most years, we would see one movie a year. Part of that was good parenting - my parents kept careful watch over what we were allowed to see when we were young - but part of it was finances. So, going to the movies never got old for me. Being transported for a couple of hours into another place and time was always fun. Thanks to DVDs, now I can do that from the comfort of my home. It's funny, but I can tell you more about actors/actresses from the 50's and before than I can of today. I love Old Hollywood.

5) Favorite music artist(s) or band(s) - Ah, now that will be difficult. I love a huge variety of music. I listen to everything from big band/swing to today's pop. I don't actually have a favorite - I'm way too eclectic. Going through my list on iTunes, I've got everyone from Annie Lennox to Bonnie Tyler to Jo Dee Messina to Kansas to Miranda Lambert to Peggy Lee to Sara Evans to Selena to Whitesnake. I love everything from slow and romantic ballads to fast dance beats - Broadway to Celtic. There are just way too many for me to pick!

14. Do you get motion sickness? Want to share a story about it? Yes, I get motion sickness - Dramamine is my friend. I've had it since I was a kid. My parents never took us in the car for a drive longer than 20 minutes without bags and a change of clothes for me.

16. Would you wear a rainbow jacket, neon yellow sweater and checkered pants? Well, certainly not at the same time! I'd wear the rainbow jacket.
